Course Title: Personal Passport Training
Course Description:
This training gives professionals information about personal passports including what they are and how they should be used. A personal passport is a document created by parents, professionals and a member of the AOT to share key information about the child including strategies to support the child’s learning.Personal passports are a key part in a child’s transition.
Course Outcomes:
Professionals will have understanding of a personal passport and how it should be used
Professionals will be able to create personal passports for pupils with ASD

Visual Strategies

Course Title: Visual Strategies
Course Description:
This two hour course explores the use of visual strategies to manage children with Autism within a mainstream classroom. The course will offer a variety of practical examples, with delegates being able to take away a variety of practical ideas. The content of the course will be illustrated with real-life examples throughout in order to make the theory relevant to practice. There will be opportunities throughout the session to ask questions and discuss possible scenarios.

Social Stories

Course Title: Social Stories
Course Description:
A basic introduction to writing and introducing social stories to pupils with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Course Outcomes:
an awareness of social stories and how they can be used to support individuals with a diagnosis of ASD
basic understanding of how to create a social story and successfully introduce it

ASD Awareness

Course Title: ASD Awareness
Course Description:
This one hour course provides an introduction to autism for all staff working with pupils with ASD. ASD Awareness can be tailored to primary or secondary education.
The course will cover:
Thought and behaviour – Difficulties with repetitive patterns of behaviour and rigidity of thought.
Language and Communication – How language and communication may differ in children with ASD.
Social – Social interaction difficulties and how ASD children interact with others.
Sensory issues – How pupils with ASD may interpret the world in a different way through their senses and how sensory issues are often a
trigger for behavioural issues.
Course Outcomes:
Understanding of how to support a child with autism within a mainstream education setting
Practical strategies to use to support a child with autism to access their education at their individual pace and level of ability.
Strategies to support the development of social relationships, confidence and self esteem.
Knowledge and understanding of how to adapt the mainstream learning environment for a child with autism.
